Is the Cloud Right for Your Business?

Cloud computing has been around for some time. People know the benefits associated with this technology, such as supporting remote work, scalability, lower capital costs, improved performance, etc.

Many organizations are migrating to the cloud to enjoy these benefits, but we get asked a lot if the cloud is right for them?  It depends, and a custom approach is paramount.  CSP, Inc. provides reliable IT services and support to organizations in Chapel Hill, Raleigh/Durham region, Wake Forest, Cary, and the surrounding areas. This article will help you discover if the cloud is right for your business.

What Is the Cloud?

In a nutshell, cloud technology enables users to access and store data and programs on offsite servers that they can access via the internet.

Is the Cloud Right for Your Business? Cloud solutions may be right for you if:

  • You Need Offsite Backup: Having an offsite backup can help your organization’s security and compliance initiatives. For example, you will access your data if cybercriminals breach your onsite data center and ransom you to forego your data.
  • Your Business Needs a Data Recovery and Business Continuity Plan: Calamities can befall your onsite servers. For example, electrical outages, natural disasters, or internet failures can affect your operations relying on onsite servers. Cloud storage can support your activities as you wait for technicians to sort the issue.
  • You May Need Desktop-As-A-Service: Cloud computing can support your adoption of virtual desktops, which support a remote workforce. Your organization can access their work computers from remote locations and continue their work when they are not at the office.
  • Your Organization Needs Infrastructure-As-A-Service: Onsite servers may present issues that you need to address, such as high acquisition, operation, and maintenance costs. You may choose cloud servers to handle these issues that onsite servers can cause. The migration to cloud servers turns capital expenses to operational expenditure.
  • You May Need to Keep up With the Changing Business Environment: Your organization can struggle to keep up with essential software updates and upgrades. For example, your employees may need to check and manage updates. This work can be too much for them to handle, besides their other duties. With cloud computing, your provider will oversee the updates, allowing you to concentrate on your core activities. You also do not have to worry about buying hardware that becomes obsolete in a short period.

Cloud solutions may be the silver bullet your organization needs to move to the next level. You will need to work with an IT company that you can trust to achieve this goal.
