CSP staff members have been participating in a company-wide community volunteer program providing support to Meals on Wheels of Wake County. CSP selected Meals on Wheels for their company-wide volunteer initiative because of the impact it has on feeding thousands of seniors living in Wake County. Our team was also seeking a program that is close enough to our office in order to allow our staff members the ability to participate during the program’s delivery hours from 10:30AM to 12PM.
Teams of two staff members pick up the meals from the pantry location and delivered them to designated locations established by Meals On Wheels. Our first team, Margie Figueroa and Scott Forbes, delivered meals for program participants residing in the downtown Raleigh area. Over the course of the next few weeks, five CSP teams, consisting of 11 members, delivered approximately 50 meals.
Meals on Wheels allows our seniors in Wake County to maintain their dignity and independence and remain in their homes. When a volunteer delivers a meal to a homebound recipient, we are not only providing a meal, but we are also providing a visit and a check-up. It is comforting to family members to know that someone is stopping in daily to be sure that everything is okay. Often, the volunteer delivering the meal is the only visitors they see all day.
Meals on Wheels of Wake County serves 1,300 noontime meals every weekday to the elderly, homebound and persons with disabilities of Wake County. For more information about the meals program or volunteering, please visit their Website at www.wakemow.org.

CSP’s staff enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the program and are looking forward to continuing volunteering with Meal on Wheels. “What an amazing day being able to go out with my co-workers and volunteer with Meals on Wheels! We are blessed to have a great company to work with day in and day out; however, there was a new added depth with getting to go out into the community and give back! You will never go broke Paying It Forward!” said, Project Manager, Heather Carpenter. Heather’s sentiments were echoed throughout by her co-workers alike.
