CSP staff members participated in a company-wide volunteer program to provide support to Meals on Wheels of Wake County. This volunteer initiative impacts thousands of seniors living in Wake County. This is the second year that CSP’s staff members have volunteered to deliver meals to Raleigh residents.
Our teams of two staff members picked up the meals from the pantry location and delivered them to designated locations. The meals are being delivered to program participants residing in downtown Raleigh and surrounding communities between the hours of 10:30AM to 12PM. Our CSP teams, consisting of 16 staff members, delivered approximately 60 meals.
Meals on Wheels allows our seniors in Wake County to maintain their dignity and independence and remain in their homes. When a volunteer delivers a meal to a homebound recipient, we are not only providing a meal, but we are also providing a visit and a check-up. It is comforting to family members to know that someone is stopping in daily to be sure that everything is okay. Often, the volunteer delivering the meal is the only visitors they see all day.
Meals on Wheels of Wake County serves 1,300 noontime meals every weekday to the elderly, homebound and persons with disabilities of Wake County. For more information about the meals program or volunteering, please visit their Website at www.wakemow.org.
CSP’s Business Manager, Margie Figueroa, states, “This is a great opportunity to support a very worthy cause in our community. Having our CSP teams participate is two-fold; it helps to provide relief to the regularly scheduled volunteers by allowing them an opportunity to take on other tasks and it allow us to deliver meals that make a huge impact in a short amount of time. Delivering nutritious food and a friendly smile to the program participants, makes you feel good about helping others. We are proud that we were able to organize our teams at CSP, Inc. and make an impact again this year.”
CSP’s staff enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the program and are looking forward to continuing volunteering with Meal on Wheels.
